Our History
About International Ministerial Fellowship (IMF)
International Ministerial Fellowship (IMF) was established in 1958 and chartered on October 25, 1960, as a Texas non-profit corporation by Pastor F.C. Masserano, Sr., Dr. George Steiglitz, Rev. C.R. McPhail, and a group of men and women. They believed in establishing a fellowship of non-denominational ministers committed to preaching and teaching the Gospel of Christ, promoting fellowship, building churches, publishing gospel materials, and supporting missions. Many of these founders had previously served in the World Bible Way Fellowship during the 1940s and early 1950s under Rev. Guy Shields and Rev. Albert Daly.
Early Leadership
Dr. George Steiglitz of Crockett, TX, served as the first President of IMF. Following his death, IMF merged with the World Bible Way Fellowship of Dallas, TX, under the presidency of Dr. Albert Daly. In the early 1970s, IMF separated from the World Bible Way Fellowship and continued under the leadership of Rev. F.C. Masserano, Sr., until his death in 1981. Rev. Frank Masserano, Jr. succeeded him as President until 1985.
Relocation and Subsequent Leadership
In 1985, IMF relocated to Minneapolis, MN, with Rev. L.L. Kirkman of Evansville, IN, serving as President, followed by leaders including Rev. Lawrence Kutzler, Dr. Bill Tolson, Dr. M.G. McLuhan, Dr. Morris Sheats, Pastor Fred Kelly, Pastor Randy Alonso, Pastor John Braland, and Rev. Dr Paul Marzahn.
A Legacy of Pioneering Faith
Many of IMF’s early leaders were independent pastors and evangelists with a pioneering spirit, placing their complete faith in God. Their spouses shared the same commitment, serving faithfully alongside them. From 1950 to 1980, the fellowship gathered annually during Thanksgiving conventions at Bethel Assembly Church in Memphis, TN, fostering deep relationships and a shared mission.
IMF's Beginnings
The earliest roots of IMF were formed through the partnership of Pastor F.C. Masserano, Sr., and Rev. L.L. Kirkman, beginning in 1939. Their shared vision brought together a group of about 60 pastors and evangelists who officially incorporated IMF as a Texas corporation in 1960.
Shaping a Renewed Vision
After separating from the World Bible Way Fellowship, IMF re-chartered itself in Minnesota under Rev. Frank Masserano, Jr., emphasizing the centrality of Christ and the work of the Holy Spirit. During a time of renewal within churches and denominations, IMF became a safe haven for ministers and congregations seeking fellowship and spiritual growth.
A Balanced Approach to Ministry
IMF emphasizes a balanced approach to ministry, combining the Word of God with the power of the Holy Spirit. This approach ensures that the intellect and spirit are both nurtured, avoiding extremes that can lead to spiritual immaturity or a purely academic faith. IMF believes in addressing the whole person—mind, spirit, and life application of biblical truth.
The Horace B. "Red" Jackson Ministry Center
In 1982, IMF established the Horace B. “Red” Jackson Ministry Center in Excelsior, MN, as a hub for its growing community.
Global Growth and Impact
Under the leadership of Rev. Frank and Carol Masserano from 1982 to 2019, IMF expanded to include over 1,600 members across more than 50 countries. Today, IMF members serve as pastors, chaplains, missionaries, and leaders in various ministries, continuing the legacy of pioneering faith and global impact.
